AUM Sound Healing Center Koh Phangan

Sauna, Ice Bath & Bonfire
Not every unforgettable night on Koh Phangan involves a DJ. Some of the deepest experiences on the island happen around a fire, inside a sauna, or in a room where forty people are chanting the same syllable together until the air vibrates. AUM Sound Healing Center is where those nights live — and every Thursday, they open the doors for AUM Day.
About AUM Sound Healing Center
AUM Sound Healing Center sits at the heart of Koh Phangan, a dedicated space for conscious music, healing practices, and community. It hosts gong meditations, singing bowl ceremonies, kundalini yoga, ecstatic dance, breathwork, and live music — all built around the idea that sound is a vehicle for something deeper than entertainment.
The venue is intimate by design. A bonfire burns in the centre. The sauna steams beside an ice bath. The instruments — gongs, singing bowls, didgeridoos, drums, flutes, harps — are played by practitioners who know them not just as instruments but as tools.
This is not a wellness retreat centre in the polished, Instagram sense. It’s a living community space. The people who come regularly are musicians, healers, travellers, long-term residents — and on Thursdays, all of them converge.

AUM Day — Every Thursday
AUM Day is the weekly centrepiece of the AUM Sound Healing Center — and one of the most distinct events on Koh Phangan.
Every Thursday evening, the center opens for a full programme that moves through music, chanting, meditation, and ritual fire & water practices. There’s a sequence to it — a deliberate arc from social to sacred, from sound to silence and back again.
Schedule: Thursday, 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM Entry: 600 THB — tickets at the door only
The AUM Day Programme
🎶 Live Music Jam — AUM Orchestra The evening opens with a live jam session. Musicians take the floor with guitars, didgeridoos, drums, flutes, and vocals — building an organic, improvised soundscape that sets the tone for everything that follows. Past performers have included Baba Rebelution and Anneya on harp.
🕉 AUM Chanting Meditation The group moves into collective chanting of the AUM mantra. Forty, fifty, sometimes more voices in the same room, vibrating together. This is not performance — it’s participation. The effect is cumulative: it takes a few minutes to drop in, and when it happens, the room shifts.
🔔 Gong Sound Healing — Deep Sound Journey A deep gong meditation follows — the centrepiece of the healing practice. Gongs, singing bowls, and bells are played in long, layered waves. The experience is immersive and physical: the sound resonates through the body as much as the ears. Most people lie down. Some sleep. Some don’t come back the same.
🍵 Tea Ceremony Between the sound journey and the fire practices, the group gathers for a ceremonial tea — a moment of quiet, warmth, and connection.
🔥 Sauna, Ice Bath & Bonfire The final hours open up. The sauna is hot and cedar-scented. The ice bath is cold enough to reset everything. The bonfire pulls people together for conversation, silence, or music that continues informally into the night.
This is the full AUM Day arc: music → chanting → sound healing → ceremony → fire & water. Each element prepares you for the next.
Other Weekly Events
AUM Day on Thursday is the flagship, but the center runs multiple events through the week:
Ecstatic Dance (Fridays) Doors open at 6:30 PM. Free-form conscious dance from 7:00–9:30 PM — no phones, no alcohol, just movement and rhythm. Followed by a sound bath / shavasana, then sauna, ice bath and bonfire till late.
Daily Sessions The center runs morning and afternoon sessions throughout the week: Kundalini Yoga, Breathwork & Vibrational Release, Active Meditation, Restorative Yoga & Sound Bath, and Sunset Sessions. Check the weekly schedule at aumphangan.com for current timings.
Special Events AUM regularly takes events off-site — including Cosmic Sound Healing on Zen Beach and collaboration events with the wider Koh Phangan wellness community.
What to Expect: Tips
Arrive on time for Thursday AUM Day. The programme starts at 6:00 PM and the arc of the evening depends on moving through each element in sequence. Late arrivals miss the music jam and disrupt the opening.
Come with an open mind. AUM Day is not a spectator event. You chant, you lie in the gong bath, you decide whether to take the sauna and ice bath. The more you give to the experience, the more you get back.
Bring a change of clothes if using the sauna. The sauna is genuinely hot. Lightweight, comfortable clothes for the indoor sessions, and something to change into for the fire portion of the evening.
No alcohol. AUM Day is a sober, conscious event. This is part of what makes the gong bath and chanting land differently than at a regular party.
Eat lightly beforehand. The centre serves vegetarian food — but going into a sound healing session on a heavy stomach is not recommended.
Instruments & Sound
AUM Sound Healing Center works with a specific palette of sound healing instruments, each chosen for its resonant properties:
- Gongs — the core of the sound journey; full-frequency instruments that create a bath of vibration
- Singing Bowls — Tibetan and crystal bowls for focused tonal resonance
- Didgeridoo — low-frequency drone that grounds the room
- Drums — rhythmic anchor for the music jam
- Flutes — melodic texture and breath
- Harp — delicate, harmonic overlay
- Vocals — including the collective AUM chanting

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any experience with sound healing or meditation? None at all. AUM Day is designed to be accessible regardless of background. The only requirement is a willingness to participate and an openness to the experience.
Can I just come for the sauna and ice bath without the programme? The Thursday AUM Day is a full-evening programme — the 600 THB entry covers the entire experience. If you’re only interested in sauna sessions, the center offers separate bookings at other times of the week.
Is AUM Day suitable for first-timers to Koh Phangan? It’s one of the best first experiences you can have. AUM Day gives you an immediate sense of the island’s conscious, community-driven side — the part that exists alongside (and sometimes in contrast to) the Full Moon Party world.
What is the difference between AUM Day and Ecstatic Dance? AUM Day (Thursday) is built around sound healing — gong bath, chanting, live music, and ritual. Ecstatic Dance (Friday) is movement-based: free-form dance to live or recorded rhythmic music, followed by a sound bath and sauna. Different experiences, same spirit.
Is there parking nearby? Yes — scooter parking is available at the venue. The center is accessible by scooter or taxi from most parts of the island.
Can I book for a group? Yes — contact the center directly via email or social media to arrange group attendance or private sessions.
