Lighthouse Koh Phangan – The Party at the End of the Bridge

You walk along Leela Beach after dark. The sand ends. A wooden bridge begins, running out over the water, waves moving below your feet. At the other end, there’s a dancefloor on the cliffs with 180° of the Gulf of Thailand in front of it, fire in the air, and music that sounds like it was made for a night exactly like this one.

That’s how you arrive at Lighthouse. There is no other entrance. The walk across the bridge is the beginning of the experience — and it already tells you that what’s on the other side is worth it.

About Lighthouse

Lighthouse is one of the most distinctively located clubs in Southeast Asia — an open-air venue built into the rocky cliffside at the far end of Leela Beach, just around the headland from Haad Rin. Surrounded by jungle on one side and the open ocean on the other, it sits on a natural rock platform that turns a party into something closer to a ritual.

It operates every Tuesday and Friday, from 9 PM until the sun comes back. The music is electronic — deep house, techno, melodic house, progressive, tech house — curated by rotating international and Thai DJs who know that a location this strong demands a soundtrack to match.

Lighthouse is not the island’s biggest venue. It’s one of its most beloved.

The Walk Across the Bridge

Getting to Lighthouse is unlike arriving at any other venue on Koh Phangan. You follow the path along Leela Beach to the end, where a wooden bridge extends out over the sea. Beneath it: the Gulf of Thailand. Ahead: the silhouette of the lighthouse structure against the sky, lit by fire and sound.

The bridge is short — maybe 30 metres — but it functions as a threshold. You’re leaving the island behind and entering something else. On a clear night, with the stars out and the water moving below and music already audible from the dancefloor ahead, it’s one of those moments that stays with you longer than the party itself.

The Venue

Dancefloor: Open-air, on the natural rock platform of the cliffside — concrete and stone underfoot, nothing overhead but sky.

Views: 180° of the Gulf of Thailand. The horizon at night is a clean line of dark water and stars. At sunrise, it’s something else entirely.

Sound system: Full professional rig calibrated for outdoor cliffside acoustics — the open air and the geography of the cove shape the sound in ways an indoor venue cannot replicate.

Extras: Chill-out zones set into the rocks, a full bar, local food stalls, fire shows and glowing visual performers throughout the night.

The lighthouse itself stands at the edge of the venue — the navigational lighthouse that gives the place its name, visible from the sea, now doubled as the visual anchor of one of the island’s most iconic party spots.

How to Get There

Address: 122 Lighthouse Bungalows, Haad Rin, Koh Phangan

On foot from Haad Rin: Walk south along Haad Rin Nok beach and continue around the headland path to Leela Beach. Follow the beach to the end — the bridge is where the sand stops. 20–30 minutes on foot from central Haad Rin.

By taxi: Shared songthaews run from all major beaches from 8 PM. Just say “Lighthouse” — every driver knows it. Pick-up service runs until the early hours. Price: approximately 100–200 THB depending on distance and group size.

By scooter: Park near Leela Beach — there is no vehicle access beyond the beach path. The walk along the sand to the bridge is 5–10 minutes.

Tuesday vs Friday — What's the Difference?

Both nights run the same format: doors open at sunset, music from 9 PM to sunrise, same venue, same general music direction. Tuesday nights have a reputation for being slightly more local and underground in character, with a crowd that includes more island regulars and long-term residents. Friday nights draw a wider mix as the week builds toward the Full Moon cycle. Both are worth attending. Neither is the wrong choice.

Music & Lineup

Deep House · Techno · Melodic House · Tech House · Progressive

Lighthouse runs a multi-genre electronic programme across its weekly nights, with a consistent curatorial direction: music that works with the sea, the cliffs, and the open sky. Top international and Thai DJs rotate through the lineup across Tuesday and Friday sessions.

Fire shows, dancers, and glowing visual installations supplement the sound — but the venue never tips into spectacle at the expense of music. The cliffside dancefloor, with the ocean as its backdrop, is enough.

Tips for Your Visit

Come early. Free entry before 10 PM, and the early sets at Lighthouse are genuinely worth hearing. The crowd builds slowly and the music often has more room to breathe in the first two hours.

Walk the bridge sober the first time. The approach across the water is the Lighthouse experience. Do it fully present.

Bring a layer. The cliffside gets a sea breeze that beach venues don’t. After midnight, when you’ve been dancing for a few hours, the wind coming off the Gulf is a welcome thing — but at 3 AM when you stop moving, it can feel cold.

The sunrise is the payoff. Lighthouse is a sunrise venue. People who leave at 2 AM technically go to Lighthouse. People who stay until the light changes over the Gulf actually experience it. The music shifts in the final hours. Stay for it.

Food and water are available on-site. Local food stalls operate through the night. Hydrate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where exactly is Lighthouse on Koh Phangan? At the far end of Leela Beach, just south of Haad Rin. It’s accessible only on foot along the beach path, ending at a wooden bridge over the water. Address: 122 Lighthouse Bungalows, Haad Rin.

Is there really a bridge over the sea to get in? Yes. The entrance to Lighthouse is via a short wooden bridge extending over the water. It’s the most dramatic venue entrance on the island. Entirely safe, but genuinely special.

Is Lighthouse only open Tuesday and Friday? Regular weekly parties run Tuesday and Friday. Special events — Full Moon nights, holiday editions — are added throughout the year. Check phangan.events for the current schedule.

What time does free entry end? 10:00 PM. Arrive before that for free access. After 10 PM, entry is 400 THB online or 500 THB at the door.

Can I get there without a scooter? Yes. Walk from Haad Rin (20–30 minutes along the beach path) or take a shared songthaew from anywhere on the island — shared taxis run from 8 PM specifically for Lighthouse nights.

Is Lighthouse near the Full Moon Party venue? Yes — Haad Rin is the Full Moon Party beach. Lighthouse is a 20-minute walk from the centre of Haad Rin Nok, around the southern headland. Many people combine a Lighthouse visit with time on Haad Rin, especially during Full Moon week.
